ABOUT THE COLLEGE
Jeppiaar
Engineering College is one of the premier technical institutions started in the
year 2001 by Col. Dr. Jeppiaar
M.A., B.L., Ph.D, an eminent industrialist, educationalist, and a philanthropist who works for the
technical education for more than 3 decades.The director of the college Mrs.Regeena.J. Murli,B.E.,M.B.A.,(PhD), has led the college from its fledgling state to an institution to reckon with. Jeppiaar Engineering College is
affiliated to Anna University, which provides excellent technical education
while keeping the overall growth and development of the students in mind. Both academic and non-academic activities are given equal importance.

The department of Computer Science and Engineering came into existence from the very inception of the college at 2001.Approved by AICTE and affiliated to Anna University, Accredited by NBA. The Department currently has 144 students on each batch with the Post Graduate programme viz. M.E. – CSE introduced in the year 2012-2013. The Department has been maintaining an active interaction with the industries and the student chapters to expose student’s knowledge in their fields.

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
Workshop has hands-on exercise where you will deploy a java application and You will also deploy analytic based on Big Data Stack (Hadoop/Spark) in a private cloud setup available in the workshop premises.

Course Objectives
At the completion of the course participants will be able to:
- Describe private cloud and public cloud.
- Describe the SSH mechanism used in Cloud.
- Describe Hadoop and the Hadoop Distributed File System
- Describe the YARN framework
- Describe Spark (In memory Analytics)
- Deploy and configure private cloud (OpenNebula)
- Develop and run a Java MapReduce application on YARN
- Develop and run a Java application, Database in private cloud.
Lab exercises are completed using the Linux. No prior Linux or cloud knowledge is required.
Lab Content
Participants will work through the following lab exercises using OpenNebula(IaaS), Megam(PaaS), and Hadoop/Spark:
- Manage your source code in GitHub.com
- Deploy your own private cloud using OpenNebula
- Launch VM and connect via SSH
- Launch a Java application in private cloud
- Develop the Java application in private cloud
- Launch a Database(PostGRESQL) in private cloud.
- Launch In memory Analytics (Spark)
- Putting data into HDFS using Java
- Write a word count MapReduce application
- Write a movie recommendation Java application using machine language library (MLlib)
